BMW 2002: Ignition Timing

I’ve been busy!

With a toddler and a job that at times is quite demanding, I’ve managed to spend a lot of my free time working on the BMW. It’s been tons of fun. Some moments have been challenging. I’ve learned a ton.

Ignition Timing

Most of my time has been spent with the ignition timing and carburetor. I’ll cover the carburetor in a separate post. I’ve replaced the perfectly good distributor with a 123Ignition Bluetooth distributor. It allows me to adjust the ignition curve, view a tachometer on my phone, and disable the distributor to immobilize the car. They’re all nice to have things. It was a little challenging finding a curve that was a good fit, but I’ve found something I’m content with for now. I use the tach a lot. The car was a 3-speed automatic from the factory, which means it has a clock in place of the tachometer.
